Abstract

1,062,552. Carrier bags. KORSNAS G.m.b.H. Aug. 7, 1963 [Aug 16, 1962], No. 31118/63. Heading A4G. [Also in Divisions B5 and B8] A carrier bag has handles 16 (Fig. 10) at the bottom for use when the bag has been filled through the opposite end and sealed. The bottom is rectangular, and the bag is formed from lay-flat tubing or folded web with the bottom formed along a longitudinal fold (2) (Fig. 1, not shown), so that the dimensions can be .greater than could be accommodated in the width of the web or tube. The rectangular bottom may be formed by folding both leading and trailing edges of a length of tubing to block-bottom form 13, 14 (Fig. 10) and then cutting the tubing axially to form pairs of bags with the fold 2 refolded to rectangular form. Alternatively the block-bottom folds 13 may be performed at the folded edge 2 only of a folded web, so that the height of the bag extends the full width of the folded web. The bag may be of paper, cloth, thermoplastic foil or laminates, secured by glueing, sewing or heat-sealing.
