Abstract

549,671. Actuating switches; snap-action switches. RAFT, G. March 24, 1941, No. 3979. [Class 38 (v)] A multiple-way adapter, with switching means for putting outlet connections selectively in circuit with the input terminals, comprises an insulating casing 20 with three limbs 21, 22, 23, one 21 the input and 22, 23 outlets. A metal spindle 36 is connected to one pole 27 of the input 21, as by a link 37, and a rotor 40 is mounted thereon bearing two metal bridges one on each side of a control web 43. Spring contacts 32, 33, 34, 35 extend from the poles of the outlet limbs 22, 23 and one from each limb bears on each of the rotor parts one, 44, of which only is seen in the Figure. The metal bridge on the under side rubs on a circular contact connected with the second pole, 26, of the input. The bridge 44 on the upper side is in electrical contact with the spindle and hence pole 27 of the input. On rotation of the rotor by means of a cord &c. 50 through predetermined distances, controlled by a ratchet, the springs 32, 35 are put into circuit with the input, so that one or all or none of the output limbs are operative.
