Abstract
1522570 Snap-action switches LA TELEMECANIQUE ELECTRIQUE 1 July 1977 [10 Aug 1976] 27603/77 Heading H1N In a snap action switch in which a contact bridge 7, Fig. 1, is moved parallel to itself between contact pairs 4, 5 under the force of a pair of over-centre springs 15, 15<SP>1</SP> acting at its ends, the other end of each spring 15, 15<SP>1</SP> is connected to one of a pair of auxiliary levers 13, 13<SP>1</SP> which have noses 27 engageable with the contact bridge 7 to cause positive opening in the event of spring failure. The levers 13, 13<SP>1</SP> are moved through rack and pinion connections 16, 17 and pivot points 12 are arranged in the proximity of the spring connections to the contact bridge 7 so that the force on each springs 15, 15<SP>1</SP> is maintained substantially constant. An alternative arrangement using tension coil springs is described.
