Abstract

549,648. Ventilators. EVANS, R., and WINSTAY HOLDINGS, Ltd. May 27, 1941, Nos. 6809 and 14281. [Class 137] A black-out ventilator, particularly for ships' portholes, comprises a tubular casing 10 which fits into the porthole or other aperture and within which are disposed front and' back opaque screens 30 and 31 which extend above the horizontal diameter, and between them is arranged a screen 33 which overlaps the upper parts of the other screens, a hood 34 being optional. The fitting is easily removable and is secured by bolts 40 at the outer ends of which are arms 42 which may be turned as at 421 to project beyond the perimeter of the porthole, the bolts being then tightened by wing-nuts 44.
