[Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] Closure of a starting switch 4 energizes a starter motor 8 for an internal combustion engine and also a holding winding 16 of a contactor 15, the latter through a resistance 19. When the motor takes load by engaging a pinion 13 with the engine flywheel gear 14 the potential developed across a resistance 6 energizes a coil 26 causing a temporary short circuit of the resistance 19 and the closure of the contactor 15.
