Abstract
549,415. Feeding sheets; stopping arrangements. BOBST & FILS SOC. ANON, J. Oct. 9, 1941. No. 13055. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1940. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] In an overlapping stream feed a feeler device for stopping the machine in the event of a double feed is arranged near the front stops and adjustment to the pulley of a conveyer which advances the stream, and the feeler device is associated with a device for side-registering the sheets as they reach the front stops. The sheet 1 passes between a pendulum lever 12 carried by an adjustable casing, and a roller 13 carried by a lever 14 which is oscillated by a cam 15, Fig. 4 (not shown), on a shaft driven by a gear 16 and a gear splined to a shaft 17 so as to permit adjustment of the whole device transversely of the sheet. The roller 13 is normally moved to take up a position separated from the pendulum 12 by a distance slightly greater than the thickness of a sheet. Should double feed occur the roller 13 transmits motion to the pendulum 12 and a mercury switch 26 associated therewith operates mechanism to stop the feed. The gear 16 also operates a cam which causes a pivoted frame 25 to raise a driven feed roller 21 into contact with a roller 22 and so move the edge of the sheet against a side gauge 9 after the sheet has reached the front stops.
