Abstract
557,166. Feeding sheets. BOBST & FILS SOC. ANON., J. May 1, 1942, No. 5910. Convention date, May 3, 1941. [Class 100 (i)] Sheets of cardboard &c. as fed to a cutting-machine comprising rollers 15, 16, or to other machines, are registered by means of a pair of front stops 14 mounted on a shaft which is rotated to permit passage of the sheets by the pressing action of the sheets upon the stops, and in order to ensure accuracy of feed each registering device is fitted with a locking device 20 adapted to be acted upon before a sheet reaches the stops, so that the stops are only released if each locking-device 20 is acted upon . The sheets are fed by drop rollers 10 and delivered by rollers 17, 18, and may be registered against a side guide. The locking-devices are pivoted in slots in the stops 14 in such a manner that their front surfaces 20 project in front of the registering parts 19 of the stops 14 which are held by a shaped rear part 22 on the locking devices. In place of the mechanical locking-devices electromagnetically operated ones controlled by electric contacts may be used, and the contacts can also move a side-registering guide out of the path of the sheets while the registration by the front stops is taking place.
