Abstract

549,414. Lightning arresters. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 7, 1941, No. 12934. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1940. [Class 38 (iv)] In a lightning arrester with one or more spark gaps 1 in series with a resistance or resistances 2 of the kind which offer a reduced resistance to high voltages, the resistance or resistances are shunted by condensers 3 of higher value than the inherent capacity of the spark gaps, in order that the performance of the arrester may be independent of the spark-gap capacity. It is stated in the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 that by incorporating discrete grains of conducting material with the resistance material or by using a resistance material with a high dielectric constant the resistances themselves may be given the necessary capacitance. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
