Abstract
560,306. Lightning arresters. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, and RYDBECK, G. Nov. 9, 1942, No. 15793. [Class 38 (iv)] A lightning arrester comprising a number of discharge gaps, 1 (or groups thereof) alternating in series with voltage dependent resistances 3 is reduced in height by arranging the gaps and resistances in separate piles side by side. The insulating members 4 between the resistance, elements are arranged to constitute the dielectric condensers forming potentiometric means to equalize the voltage on the gaps and the insulating members 5, which extend between the piles, form condensers which shunt the resistances 3. Suitable connections are effected between the parts by metal coatings on the insulating members; supplemented by additional connections 6. The piles are arranged in a cylindrical insulator 7 having metal ends 8, 9 carrying terminals. Resistance elements 2 may be arranged in shunt with each gap. Fig. 2 shows the circuit established.
