Abstract

548,600. Boots &c., insoles, MARGOLIN, M. Sept. 3, 1941. No. 11288. [Class 17 (ii)] An insole 30 is formed with an opening at its forepart having a tapered peripheral edge 31, and disposed within this opening is a resilient pad 33 also tapered at its periphery 34, the taper being extended to form a feather edge 47 extending beyond the taper 31 and being engaged by stitching 41. Holes 35 extend through the pad, and other holes 43 extend through both tapered edges 31, 34, while in addition grooves 37, 38, may be formed in the under surface of the pad, and some of these grooves may communicate with perforations extending through the pad, as shown at 39. The pad may extend through the whole forepart, and may be provided with an enlargement at the metatarsal region, and, in some cases, a second aperture may be formed in the insole to accommodate this enlargement.
