548,100. Oil engines. C.A.V., Ltd., BROOK, K., and EVANS, F. M. June 17, 1941, No. 7655. [Class 7 (iii)] In a liquid-fuel injection system, one or more additional injection nozzles e are provided between the fuel pump c and the main nozzle b, and arranged to operate at a low pressure so as to inject fuel when the fuel pressure is insufficient to open the main nozzle at starting, a byepass valve automatically closing, so as to direct the fuel only to the main nozzle, when the pressure is sufficient to open the latter. In a modification, the additional nozzle injects fuel into the induction pipe. The additional nozzle is preferably valveless with a whirling chamber.
