Abstract

547,559. Master control of motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 29, 1940, No. 17036. Convention date, March 28, 1940. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 31, 1941.] [Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v)] A series motor 110, 110a is accelerated either forward or reverse by sequential contactors 123, 124, 125 of the lock-out type, time delay in operation being obtained by the time of decay of magnetisation in the restraining coils 124b, 125b shunted by condensers 143, 144. Contactor 123 controls a "plugging" resistance 120 and the restraining coil thereof is connected in shunt to the armature through a rectifier 142 so as to be energized when the motor is being plugged. A contactor is shown in Fig. 2, the restraining coil 141 is associated with a separate magnetic circuit 138.
