[Class 107] [Also in Group XXI] An excavator of the back-acting or drag-shovel type is modified or converted for scarifying road, &c. surfaces by replacing the scoop &c. by a pick comprising a pointed tool 14 of bar-like form which is rigidly secured to the scoop &c. arm 3 and set thereon so that it is inclined inwardly towards the base of the machine when the boom 5 is lowered and the pick is on the point of penetrating the road or surface. The pick is pivoted and adjustably but rigidly held by bars 15. More than one pick may be provided. Specification 482,341, [Group XXI], is referred to.
