753,967. Earth - working apparatus. DROTT, E. A. Sept. 13, 1954 [Jan. 15, 1954], No. 26467/54. Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXX] The earth-engaging unit of an earthworking machine comprises a plate 33 which is pivoted at 39 to arms 23, is provided with a cutting edge 40 and is hinged at 45 to a member 32 having cutting edges 43, 44; hydraulic rams 27, 50, 53 being provided respectively to pivot independently the arms 23, the member 32 and the plate 33 so enabling the machine to be used as a grab, a leveller, a bulldozer, a forward or reverse shovel, or a reverse hoe. Graduations (Fig. 12, not shown) on the cylinder of one ram 53 co-operate with a pointer on its piston rod and give a remote indication of the inclination of plate 33. The linkages comprising links 57, 60 and rams 53 produre parallel movement of the earth-working unit over a large part of its lifting range.
