Abstract
790,227. Shovelling machines. ROTARY HOES, Ltd. Jan. 18, 1956 [Jan. 19, 1955], No. 1592/55. Class 68(1) In a shovelling assembly for attachment to a tractor there is provided between an hydraulically actuated ram 44 and a shovel-carrying boom 31 pivotally mounted at 30 on the frame of the assembly a linkage 41 that results in the shovel-raising system having a larger mechanical advantage during the initial upward movement of the shovel than at the latter part of said movement. The change of mechanical advantage permits of the latter part of the upward movement of the boom being at an increased rate to the initial movement, the speed of the piston of the ram remaining constant. The linkage 41 comprises a bell-crank arm 41, 46 pivotally mounted at 40 on the boom 31 and engaging a stop 47 on the boom during the initial upward movement of the boom.
