Abstract

484,845. Excavating trenches. MENCK & HAMBROCK, GES. March 6, 1937, No. 6720. Convention date, March 6, 1936. [Class 68 (i)] In a scoop-arm excavating machine, the scoop 8 is replaceable by a trenching- bar 12 which digs the trench as the arm 3 is rocked. The scoop 8 is normally pivoted at 4 to the arm 3 and at 7 to a bar 5 adapted to be held by a catch 10, and slidable along the arm 3 between the pivot 4 and stop 11 on release of the catch. The bar 12 carries an interchangeable plate 13 and blade 14 of desired profile. A member or members 15, Fig. 1b, may be attached to the bar to displace the spoil sideways from the trench, or a bucket 16, Fig. 2, may be secured at each side of the bar to collect the spoil, the base of the bucket being so inclined to the bar 12 that angular movement of the latter is not restricted.
