Abstract

480,848. Boring earth. SMITH, F. July 23, 1937, No. 20481. [Class 85] A tool for enlarging the bottoms of bores for concrete piles &c. comprises a frame 1 connected below to a bucket 10 adapted to receive the spoil, and a pivoted lever 5 one arm of which is connected by a link 6 to a driving member 7 adapted to be secured to a flexible driving shaft; the other arm of the lever carries a cutting element 9, which may be in the form of a spoon or scoop. The arm connected to link 6 may also be provided with a cutter of scoop or chisel form, and the lever 5 is rocked by downward pressure on the member 7.
