Abstract

1,206,758. Spade excavators. McKINNEY FOUNDATIONS Ltd. 10 May, 1968 [10 May, 1967], No. 21802/67. Heading E1F. A vertically reciprocable spade for slicing away the exposed face of an opened up trench has a concave cutting face 2 having a cutting edge 3, 4, 5 shaped, preferably V shaped and chamfered, to reduce resistance to the cutting action of the spade, stiffener pieces 8, 10, 14 and 14 attached to the convex face of the blade, and means for coupling the spade to a driving bar. The stiffener pieces form a box structure incorporating a socket 25 that allows of coupling of the spade to the driving bar.
