Abstract

593,967. Scraping-apparatus. BOMFORD & EVERSHED, Ltd., and BOMFORD, D. R. June 21, 1945, No. 15812. [Class 68 (i)] The blade-carrying frame 1 of a bulldozer is pivoted about trunnions on a tractor, the blocks being formed in two sections 3 and 3a, whilst the depth of the cutting edge 5c of the blade 5 is adjusted by means of a hydraulic jack 14 which is pivotally mounted on the frame 1 and which acts on a structure 9 connecting a skid 8 to the frame 1. The skid 8 is disposed on the centre line of the machine. To raise the blade, liquid is pumped from a reservoir 17 by a pump 18 into the jack exerting a force on the piston 13b which causes the skid to exert an up-thrust so causing the frame to turn about the trunnions. The pump may be incorporated with the jack and operated from the driver's position by a link system. The blade is lowered by releasing liquid from the jack by means of a valve 20. The transverse angle of the blade 5 can be adjusted by inserting spacing members between it and the frame. The jack may be replaced by a toggle-lever-like linkage. According to the Provisional Specification, the hydraulic jack is mounted on the structure 9, the piston acting on the frame 1.
