Abstract

546,891. Sewing-machines. BALLAMY, L. M., and SHEEPSHANKS, R. H. July 11, 1941, No. 2552/42. Divided out of 547,117, [Group IX]. [Class 112] Loose fibrous material 14 is fed to a multiple needle sewing machine 23 by means of a curved presser plate 10. An arm 34 rigid with the plate is pivotally connected to a crank pin 26 and a second crank pin 27 operates a link 37 pivoted to the plate 10. The crank pins have different throws and are out of phase but rotate at the same speed as the needle bar actuating eccentric 21. The forward end of the plate is saw toothed and the projecting parts pass between the sewing-needles. The under surface of the plate 10 may be grooved to provide the desired gripping action.
