291,651. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Union Special Machine Co.). Sept. 2, 1927. Multiple - needle machines, loopstitching.-In a sewing-machine in which a threaded looper co-operates with a plurality of needles, the looper operating mechanism moves the looper at a relatively high and substantially uniform speed while the point is entering each of the needle thread loops. The looper shaft 7 has a slotted head 21 in which slides a bar 23 pivoted to an arm 13 at 24. The bar 13 is pivoted to the frame by stub shafts 17, 19 in its yoked end 14, and is connected at its other end to an eccentric member 10 on the main shaft 3 by a link 11. The centre lines of the shafts 7, 17 are selected so that the mechanism imparts the desired motion to the looper shaft.
