Abstract
426,038. Sewing-machines. MAUSERWERKE AKT.-GES., Oberndorf-on-Neckar, Germany. Sept. 3, 1934, No. 25354. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1933. [Class 112] The work supporting arm 5 of a sewing- machine is at right angles to its supporting arm 3 and the arm 7 carrying the needle actuating mechanism forms a triangle in plan with the before mentioned arms. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the work supporting arm 5 terminates below the bracket 8 on the arm 7. The bracket 8 contains the needle bar 13 which is reciprocated by a link 21<a>, bell-crank lever 21, and rocking shaft 11. The shaft 11 is rocked by a lever 10 actuated by a rod connected to a crank on the main shaft which is housed on the arm 3. The other arm of the bell-crank 21 has a curved part 22 which moves between needle thread guides 18<a>, 18<b> to pull off or take up needle thread 17 supplied from the tension devices 15. The under threads 16 are supplied from the tension devices 14. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the needle reciprocating arm 24 is pivoted on a pin 30 carried in bushes 31, and is external to the diagonal arm 23. The needle thread is pulled off or taken up by the rising and falling movements of guides 28<a>, 28<b>, situated on either side of a fixed guide 29.
