546,256. Preserving and fire-proofing wood. GUNN, G. Feb. 25, 1942, No. 6508/41. [Class 140] Wood and fibrous material such as jute is preserved and fire-proofed by impregnation with an aqueous solution of a bichromate, e.g. sodium bichromate, copper sulphate, zinc chloride and boric acid. The solution may be applied by brushing; by steaming and subsequent immersion in the said solution or by rotating a cylinder containing the wood, sucking the solution into the cylinder and then applying pressure.
