Abstract

A gel preparation for wood preservation comprises creosote and a gelling agent forming with water an aqueous emulsion of creosote. The specified gelling agent is ethyl cellulose, and a stabilizer, e.g. an aqueous casein-borax mixture and/or a wetting agent, e.g. the material known under the Registered Trade Mark "Teepol" or crude cetyl pyridinium bromide, may also be present. The creosote is preferably free from tar acids.
