Abstract

545,789. Safety razors. MONNET, G. Jan. 15, 1941. No. 563. [Class 30] A safety razor has an elastic or resilient handle capable of being inflated to enable the razor to float in water. The handle shown consists of an inflatable rubber tube 10, enclosing a coil spring 12 and secured to a closure 15 by a cap 25 and nut 26. The closure carries a spring-pressed valve 18 through which the tube is filled with compressed air or other gas or liquid. The closure 15 has threaded projections 27 which grip the squared end 29 of a stem 30 and the projections are engaged by a rubber sleeve which increases the sleeve 31 which increases the resiliency of the razor and carries the razor head 34. The guard 35 is magnetized to hold the blade and has at its sides pivoted finger protectors 51, 52 which are swung down when the razor is in use. The socket parts of the protectors may be eccentric so as to vary the distance between the shaving edges 55 of the blade 22 and the guard 35. The blade is adjustably clamped by acurate members 63, 64 which are oscillated through slots in the head by screw threads 70 engaged by the threaded end of stem 30. The centre of gravity of the razor may be changed by one or more weights having a dovetail fit with a groove in the underface of the head 34. The handle may have suction cups 13, 14 for attachment to any suitable surface.
