545,456. Open fireplaces. DUNN, A. March 20, 1941, No. 3840. [Class 126] The flue of an open domestic fire-place incorporating a water boiler consists of an upper tapering tubular part A<SP>1</SP> and a lower substantially box-s h a p e d part A<SP>2</SP> open at the front to receive the boiler 3, the parts being moulded from fireclay either integrally or in two separate pieces recessed and ribbed to ensure correct registration. The upper part A<SP>1</SP> inclined forwardly and is formed with an internal recess 2 to receive a damper such as a sliding or pivoted shutter 14. The boiler is supported at its side by bearer bricks 4 so as to leave a passage from the grate 5 to the flue. Brickwork 6 is built above the border in front of the flue. In another construction the front and sides of the upper part A<SP>1</SP> are separate from the back, both portions being formed with registering projections and recesses.
