Abstract
544,864. Belts, laminated, joining. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. (Dunlop Tire & Rubber Goods Co., Ltd.). Feb. 17, 1941, No. 2120. Drawings to Specification. [Class 109] A'spliced point for an endless belt is made by cutting to form a series of steps the plies of one end of a piece of laminated rubber-coated fabric belt material, cutting in a complementary manner to form a reverse series of steps the plies of the other end of the belt material, the combined lengths of the steps formed by the first and second plies in the reverse series of steps being substantially equal to the length of the step formed by the second ply of the first series of steps and butt-jointing the plies of the ends of the belt in such a way that the top ply of one end abuts against the second ply of the other end. This procedure leaves a gap in the top ply which is filled in with a strip of belt fabric. The top ply is perforated near the joint as described in U.S.A. Specification 1,859,468. The bottom ply of the belt may be treated similarly to the top.
