Class 80 (1) A driving belt comprises two or more tension layers b, d of plastic material such as polyamide separated by and adhered to a layer c of a maternal having a relatively large coefficient of expansion and good flexibility such as leather, textile material or asbestos. The plastic layers may be formed of strips welded together and a further layer a of the material c may be provided on the inside of the belt for engaging the pulley surface. The layers are adhered together by softening the surface of the plastic with formic acid to allow penetration into the fibres of the separating layer.
