Abstract
728,006. Belt fasteners. HAYDEN-NILOS, Ltd., and POTTER, J. J. Nov. 23, 1953 [Nov. 24, 1952], No. 29651/52. Class 80 (1). The fastened ends of belts are repaired by cutting off the damaged portion, removing the upper and lower layer of rubber or like covering material for a short distance to leave a tongue 12 as in Fig. 2 of reduced thickness, the side edges also being chamfered as at 13. A thin wrapping 15 of rubber or like material, Fig. 3, is then fixed by an adhesive to the tongue 12 and the fastener hooks 16 inserted. Upper and lower covering layers of rubber or like material 17, Fig. 4, are then affixed over the hooks and the whole vulcanized. The covering sheets 17 may project beyond the belt end to overlie the hooks.
