[Also in Division B8] In a conveyer belt of which the reinforcement is made up wholly or in part of one or more layers of metallic elements, such as 1, 3, arranged longitudinally and/or transversely, textile strips 4, 5, having no metallic element therein, are arranged longitudinally along the edges of each metallic layer, the thickness of each textile strip being approximately the same as that of the metallic layer to which it is adjacent. As shown, an intermediate layer 2, of cotton cords, is provided. In another construction a centre layer of parallel metal strands has lateral polyamide cord layers on each side of it. The layers are enclosed in vulcanizable material 6. The strips 4, 5 provide a flexible edge and permit trimming of the belt to correct width before applying the material 6.
