Abstract

1,172,966. Laminated conveyer belts. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. 5 Feb., 1968 [11 Feb., 1967], No. 5733/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Division F2] A conveyer belt comprises thermoplastic material, e.g. P.V.C., having plies 1, 2 of reinforcing fabric in its surface layers so that the fabric structure is apparent in the finished belt. To make it, two plies 1, 2 of fabric are separated by coatings of P.V.C. paste and are hot-pressed so that the P.V.C. flows into the fabric mesh and completely encases the fabric. In belt joints, the abutting ends lb of fabric plies 1, la on one surface are longitudinally staggered relative to the ends 2b of plies 2, 2a on the other surface, and an additional layer 5 of fabric extends across the joint. The ply ends 1b, 2b are inclined at 70-80 degrees to the belt edges.
