851,999. Conveyer belts. BROOKSBANK, W. R. July 8, 1957 [March 2, 1957], No. 7011/57. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] An endless driving or conveyer belt is formed from one or more plies of material folded longitudinally to provide continuous unbroken edges of the belt and with the longitudinal edges of the plies disposed in abutting relationship extending the whole length of the belt intermediate its edges, the ends of the belt being tapered to form a tapered recess at one end and a wedge at the other end, the wedge being received in the tapered recess to be totally enclosed thereby. Reinforcing layers may be enclosed in the belt, the plies may be joined by stitching or adhesive, and the join(s) between plies may be oblique to the belt edges.
