Abstract
193,491. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., and Hardeman, W. E. Nov. 23, 1921. Belts.-In V-belts built up of several layers of rubber-coated canvas which may be sewn together and are covered in rubber by passing the core through a rubber extruding machine, strips of the prepared canvas are fed simultaneously to a pair of rollers which may be heated to cause the layers to adhere, or the layers may be heated before entering the rollers. The sheet. Fig. 1, thus produced is cut into V-shaped strips along lines Ax by inclined rotary cutters or by tilting a table carrying the sheet in two directions with relation to a vertical band knife or other cutter. The material may be cut to belt lengths before entering the rollers, or in the sheet, or from the strips. The layers may be sewn together, and the core is covered with a layer B of rubber by passing it through a rubber-extruding machine.
