Abstract

544,515. Junction boxes. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., and MINSHULL, O. W. Nov. 4, 1940, No. 16074. [Class 38 (i)] A distribution system for machine shops, &c. consists of short sections of conduit 1 connected by inspection chambers 3 with removable cover 13 and open bottom 23. The insulated cables 2 are continuous within the chamber but can be tapped by removing a short section of insulation. The tappings may be made by means of hook-shaped clamps 15 and bare leads 6 that pass through the open bottom 23 of the chamber 3 to fuses &c. 5 in a second box 4 from where insulated leads run to the machines. The tappings are made or inspected by removing the cover plate 13. Where tappings are not required a blanking plate is screwed to the flange 21 in place of the flange 22 of the box 4.
