Abstract
544,453. Casting concrete walls in situ. GLEESON, M. J. Nov. 25, 1940, No. 16919. [Class 20 (ii)] A wall is cast in situ by means of shuttering comprising upright stanchions 10 defining one wall face, permanent primary facing slabs 11 in spaced relation thereto and defining the opposite wall face, means to connect the stanchions with the slabs, and secondary permanent slabs or removable lining plates 12 which are secured on the inner sides of the stanchions by the means which connect the stanchions to the primary slabs. In one form the primary slabs which are provided with ribs 15 are also provided with sunken bent rods 13 having screwed ends which project into recesses 14 in the ribs, and spacing tubes 17 with screwed ends are adapted to screw on to the ends of these rods and abut by means of a flanged end 18 at their opposite ends against the faces of the opposed slabs or linings. Screwed rods 19 with handles 21 and flanges 20 are passed through the uprights 10, which are of channel section, to engage the ends of the screwed spacing sleeves and cause the slabs or lining plate to be pressed against the stanchions. In a modification the primary slabs are provided with cast-in sockets 24 and the rods 19 screw directly into these sockets and simply support the spacmg tubes.
