[Class 20 (i) ] A portable building suitable for huts for military purposes, and which is non-magnetic and is proof against bullets, bomb and shell splinters, is constructed of wood with hollow walls filled with shingle or granite chips. In one form, the building is constructed of similar sections which slope inwardly from the base to the eaves and more sharply from the eaves to the top to form a polygonal section in plan, each section comprising end and side timbers 5, the latter being at an incline transversely so that they abut and key with each other. The sections are secured together by bolts 21. The frames are covered on the outside and inside by boarding 2 which may be of the tongue and grooved kind, and some of the boards 9 at the top, middle and bottom of the frames are removable so that the filling material may be inserted and removed when it is necessary to transport the hut to a new site. Alternatively, sliding or hinged shutters may be provided for this purpose. The windows 13 are of triangular or diamond shape to prevent pockets in the filling and are closed with toughened glass. A removable stopper may be provided for each window. One of the frames is provided with a door 7 hinged by removable pin hinges 17 at one edge, the other edge having a tapered fit into its frame. The sections are joined at the top by a board 25 above which is placed filling material and the roof portion is covered by a waterproof covering 22 secured by ropes 23 and spring eyes or clips 24. In a modification, sections as previously used may form the ends of an elongated structure and the intermediate portion filled with hollow frames having parallel edges and which meet at their upper ends to form a ridge.
