Abstract

370,173. Door bodies. CENTRAL JOINERY CO. (1927), Ltd. and TWIGG, O. E., 179, High Road, Kilburn, London. March 24, 1931, No. 8988. [Class 20 (iii).] The stiles or rails, or both stiles and rails, of a door are composed of a plurality of abutting wooden members 7 having the grain of adjacent members arranged at an a n g l e. The transverse members and intermediate vertical members may be single pieces or two or more spaced members. Two members 12 are provided on the vertical edges and on the horizontal edges if desired, having undercut sides beneath which are secured plywood covering panels 14. In a modification, all intermediate spaces are filled with abutting members having the grain of adjacent members arranged a.t an angle. The abutting members have tongue-and-groove connections. The hollow spaces of the body may be filled with sawdust, cork, felt, wool, kapok or other suitable material. The panels 14 are secured with waterproof cement.
