Abstract

543,842. Cartridge belts for machine guns. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and FRISE, L. G. Aug. 22, 1940, No. 13359. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to disintegrating-link belts in which the cartridges themselves form the hinge pins, and of the kind in which each link comprises a single-arm clip 12 and a double arm clip 15 for engagement with adjacent rounds in the belt. According to the invention transverse plate-like lugs 14, 18, one on each clip portion, are secured face-to-face by a rivet or the like providing pivotal movement about an axis lengthwise of the belt. By overlapping the lugs, tension in the belt is taken by the lugs and not by the rivet. The lugs are shaped and a flanged washer plate 20 is provided, to limit the twisting movement to between 20 degrees and 40 degrees. Specification 355,767 is referred to.
