Abstract

[Class 51 (i)] An air-heating box A, Figs. 1 and 4, for application to furnace doors is provided with upright or inclined partitions d2 to cause air entering at the centre of the box to take sinuous courses towards the sides where it passes upwardly through passages d<1> into a superposed chamber a<x> having inclined upper and lower walls and delivery apertures a<5> formed in its front wall which extends beyond the front wall of the partitioned chamber. Fins a<1> at varying depth may be provided on the front wall of the box. The partitions may be provided with fins d<3>. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which the partitions d<2x> are arranged vertically and provided with fins d<3>.
