[Class 70] Re-granulated cork ,which is obtained as a by-product in the baking of corkboard is used as a fungus-growth and fire-inhibiting agent in making compressed composite material containing finely pulped cellulosic material. Rubber latex, cement, asbestos fibre, bentonite, wood flour, cork bark dust, paraffin wax and alum may also be present. The cellulosic fibre, which may be news stock, is pulped in hot aqueous suspension, cooled, mixed with regranulated cork, filtered and compressed and dried to a lightweight product. Specifications 527,857, 528,308, [Group VIII], 540,831 and 543,803, [Group III], are referred to.
