Abstract

Thin thermoplastic films are formed from natural waxes or resins modified or plasticised by the addition of long-chain fatty acids or their amides or esters or plasticisers such as tricresyl phosphate, or thermoplastic synthetic resins such as nylon, polyethylacrylate, low M.W. polystyrene, or coumarone-indene resins, with or without plasticizers, there being dispersed in the compositions relatively heat-insensitive fibres such as ethyl cellulose, wood pulp, cotton, wool, hemp, abaca, glass, mineral wool or asbestos. The films are made either by casting from a hot melt or by evaporation of diluent from a preferably heated solution or dispersion. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 722,023, [Group XVI].
