Abstract

540,783. Vapour lamps. BATES. S W. Aug. 10, 1940, No. 12837. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] In a hydrocarbon vapour burning lamp of the kind comprising a fuel tank and a vaporizing tube carrying a jet and mantle, the protective sleeve F supporting a glass cylinder surrounding the mantle is provided with one or more sets of holes H for the passage of screws securing the sleeve to the fuel tank and with one or more apertures J for the passage of the spindle operating the clearing or closing needle of the vaporizing tube, variation of the angular position of the spindle relative to the securing screws being thus allowed for. The apertures J may be circular with diametrically opposed slot extensions, oval, diamond-shaped, or of other form allowing circumferential adjustment and the holes H may be replaced by curved slots.
