[Class 4] For the lateral control of aircraft the whole extremity 2 of the wing 1 is hinged about an oblique hinge 3, 4, the axis of which when projected on the plane of the wing is at an angle of about 45 degrees with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft, the apex of the angle being directed towards the rear, the axis 3, 4 also dipping downwardly from the front to the rear. The part 9 of the movable extremity projects beyond the axis of hinging, the projecting part increasing towards the section of maximum thickness of the wing. Airsealing means may be inserted between the hinged edge of the aileron and a channel into which it projects cut into the edge of the fixed part of the wing; counterweights may also be arranged within the ailerons. One movable extremity of the wing may be connected to the other so that they always move in opposite directions when operated.
