[Class 39 (i)] In a photo-electric discharge device the light sensitive surface is on the upper side of a perforated sheet-metal plate 12 ; the perforations are conical. Between the plate 12 and a collector electrode are a number of secondary emitting electrodes 16, 17 of the form described in specification 516,621; an accelerator electrode 18 of perforated plate or wire grid or mesh form is placed before each secondary electrode as described in Specification 531,541. A final secondary emitter 19 is arranged beyond the collector electrodes. The orifices in the electrodes 17 and 18 are staggered.
