[Class 135] A regulating device for adjusting the supply of fuel gas to the heating flues of underjet-fired coke ovens comprises a casing having at least three branches two 23, 24 of which are at an angle to each other and serve to convey the gas to the flue. A third branch is normally closed by a screwed plug 39 but which can be detached to give access to an orificed plug or nozzle 33 having a tapering screwed outer surface adapted to be screwed into the branch 23. The orifice is formed in a narrow partition 34 and the layer end is formed with a pentagonal socket 35 adapted to receive the similarly shaped end of a tool inserted through the branch 22. A further detachable plug 40 enables the chamber 41 to be cleaned. Specification 508,920 is referred to.
