Abstract

538,749. Cables &c. OKONITE CO. Sept. 9, 1940, No. 14017. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1939. [Class 36] A thin protecting layer of chloro-2-butadiene- 1, 3 polymer or other plastic material is attached to a metal backing and applied to an insulated conductor, with the plastic layer on the inside, by bending it and the backing member transversely of their length around the conductor and stripping off the metal backing after vulcanization. The backing may be of tin and it may be first coated with shellac or other mould solution. A suitable plastic composition consists of the polymer, magnesium oxide, factice, rosin and other ingredients.
