Abstract

The dielectric surrounding an electric cable consists of inner and outer layers formed of vulcanized rubber-like polymerized 2-chlorobutadiene and/or copolymers of butadiene and acrylic acid nitrile admixed with polyisobutylene, the ratio of the polyisobutylene to the synthetic rubber being greater than 2 to 1 and not greater than 5 to 1, and an intermediate layer of a compound comprising a mixture of the same materials in different proportions, viz.: from 2 to 1 down to 1 to 1. Protective braid or braids may be applied to the insulated cable. Examples of compositions used in the manufacture of the intermediate layer are given. Specifications 530,512 and 578,298 are referred to.
