Abstract
538,129. Proofing permeable materials. FRIED, E. Jan. 20, 1940, No. 1235. [Class 140] Textile materials, e.g. jute bags are proofed against rot and fire by impregnation with a solution of a complex or double salt of copper which is stable in alkaline solution and free from metallic constituents in its negative radical and converting to a water-insoluble copper salt, e g. by heating. The complex salt may be prepared by rendering an aqueous solution of copper sulphate, chloride or nitrate alkaline by addition of ammonium or alkali metal hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate. Alternatively the complex salt may first be prepared and then dissolved in water to give a neutral or alkaline solution.
