Abstract
537,319. Hydraulic transmission of power. AKT.-GES DER EISEN-UND-STAHLWERKE VORM, G. FISCHER, March 4, 1940, No. 4026. Convention date, March 21, 1939. [Class 69 (ii)] A tool-slide is operated hydraulically by a piston mounted in a cylinder having an outlet controlled by a valve which is formed with a piston-part of larger diameter and is so arranged that when the piston is arrested at the end of a forward stroke by a stop. the pressure in the cylinder rises, the valve is opened, and the piston is caused to make a return stroke. In the apparatus shown in the Figure, the tool-slide is connected by a rod 3 to a piston 2 which is mounted in a cylinder 1 and abuts on a plunger 4. The cylinder communicates with a supply-line 7, a port 14, and another port controlled by a valve 9 which is provided with a piston-part 10 controlling a passage 12 leading to the port 14 and an outlet 13. The supply-line communicates with a bore 5 containing the plunger 4. At the end of a forward stroke, the piston is arrested by a stop 16, the pressure in the cylinder rises, the valve is opened, and the plunger causes the piston to make a return stroke. The piston is caused to make another forward and return stroke by opening momentarily a valve 17, and thereby opening a byepass 18 to permit return of the valve 9. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the plunger is omitted, and the cylinder 19 is provided at the rear end with a port 28 controlled by a piston-valve 30 which is mounted in a passage 27 leading to the main control-valve 24. Liquid is supplied by a line 22 and during the forward stroke of the piston, liquid at the rear thereof exhausts through the port. When the piston is arrested, the valve 24 is opened in the above-described manner, the valve 30 is raised, liquid passes through the port 28 into the rear of the cylinder, and the piston makes a return stroke. The piston is caused to make another forward and return stroke by opening momentarily a valve 32 controlling a port 31.
