Abstract
1,253,042. Air-hydraulic intensifier. W.D.S. TOOLING AIDS Ltd. Sept. 11, 1969 [Sept. 5, 1968], No.42187/68. Heading F1P. An air-hydraulic intensifier comprises a large piston 6 slidable in a cylinder 2 supplied with airpressure from a source 20 through an inlet 17, the piston 6 being connected to a plunger 8 slidable within a cylinder 5 which is supplied with hydraulic fluid from a reservoir 3 via ducts 23 and openings 24, when the plunger 8 is fully retracted, by air-pressure from the source 20 applied to an inlet 11 in the reservoir 3. In operation airpressure is first supplied to the reservoir 3 via a pressure reducing device 21 until the pressure builds up to open a valve 19 to supply air to the cylinder 2. The piston 6 is returned by springs 7 or by air-pressure, and the reservoir 3, which may be transparent contains a baffle 26 to correct any turbulence caused by inflowing air.
